This poem about bulimia was written by me, Shaye - over 7 years ago. It was written when I was deeply lost in bulimia and was unsure if I would ever find my way out. Although now I know there is hope and that recovery is possible for everyone... When I wrote this poem, I wasn't so sure.
I hope it helps you to see that I have been in a place of hoplessness with bulimia... But I recovered. You can too :)
__Each Day The Same__
Each day the same,
I play this game.
I can't find the way,
I don't know how to play.
Need someone to explain,
how to breathe again.
Suffocate and die,
I fall and I fly,
Always believe that I will find,
a way to understand my crazy mind.
I'm known but unknown,
No one to me,
no one to be.
Can anybody see -
I'm dying to break free?
I used to write poems to help express the way I was feeling. I hardly ever mentioned the word 'bulimia' in my poems as I was scared somebody would find them! I tried to explain living with bulimia in a more abstract way.
