How My Bulimia Started..

by McKenna

When I was a kid, I never worried about my weight, or looks. I was NEVER self-conscious, nor conceded about myself. When I went into 7th grade, my best friend at the time, Maci, would miss school for 4-5 days at a time. One day when she got back, I asked her what was going on and if she was sick. She had told me that she had the flu..but later in the day, at lunch we went to the bathroom and she told me what REALLY happened. She didn't have the flu, but she WAS puking...on purpose-to trick her mom into thinking she was sick. At this point I was in total SHOCK. I had no idea what Bulimia was until then. She told me what she had done, and I decided to try it. I told my other friend about it, and she told me it was Bulimia. I didn't think it was a big deal, so I did it 3-4 times a week...then 4-5 times a day...that was when my cheeks started getting bigger, and my teeth were getting yellower.. in about 6 weeks, I lost over X pounds. I was so proud of myself, but not at the same time.

To this day, I binge/purge every week or so. I have never recovered-although I have always thought about it, my friend still convinces me its a good thing.

Those of you that WANT to be Bulimic-don't. It's not some fairytail! I promise, you will regret it, and it WILL take over your life.
