Bulimia Recovery Tip
by Brit
I found the bloating during recovery really bad. About two weeks in, I found that if I ate my meals blended into a soup they would settle much faster. I also had a glass of peppermint tea with each meal. After I was happy digesting the soup, I started adding whole veges, then beans and then pieces of fish. I still haven't managed to be able to feel comfortable eating nuts and red meat...but I am sure with time I will be able to eat them too!
I think it is important to not add salt. It made me bloat, but I am such a salt lover I added a small amount, and topped the flavor up with heaps of pepper and chili! But if you can hold back from the salt it is a good idea.
I usually ate this for lunch and dinner. And had small "whole" snacks in between meals. I just really couldn't handle having a stomach full of rocks in the first few months...
Here is what I put in the soup I started with...
Week One:
1 red onion
1 cups of green peas
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of broccoli
2 cloves of garlic
1 red chilli
2 sweet potatoes
Cook and blend!
Now add these (don't bend)
Week Two:
Same as above plus;
1 cup of black beans
1 cup of kidney beans
Week Two:
Same as above plus;
1/2 or whole fillet of raw salmon
