Bulimia Bloating: Personal Advice On How To Beat It - By Karla (Guest Author)

Bulimia bloating is what hindered my bulimia recovery process. I have been bulimic for well over a decade. So when I made the decision to recover, my digestive system was not making it easy for me to follow through.

I was so devastated with the bulimia bloating that I felt depressed and alone. I hid in my apartment lying in bed all day and night hoping to sleep as much as I could to forget how disgusting I felt.

I used laxatives, but that was only a temporary relief and being honest it really didn't get rid of the bloat.

I stopped the laxatives and decided that my body was going to have to pull itself together one way or another and of course I was constipated for nearly 2 weeks! I looked 6 months pregnant.

I called off of work weekly because I felt I looked disgusting.


Then... I took a trip to the local health food store and asked a very friendly lady advice on constipation. She was so helpful, she changed my life for the better..

Please don't disregard this post, It really has helped me tremendously and has helped my bulimia recovery process.


Here is a brief description of how to speed up the bulimia bloating recovery...


  1. I was so constipated (2 weeks) that I decided to take laxatives one last time. I felt very strongly that it would benefit my recovery because I wouldn't waste days and nights obsessing over the amounts of wastes that were in my body.

  2. At the health food store purchase these items:
    APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WITH FERMENTATION (probiotics in the vinegar and helps with healing your stomach)
    ALOE VERA JUICE (this juice detoxes and aids in colon health)
    PRUNE JUICE (prunes have enzymes that help in relieving constipation)
    FLAXSEED OIL (stool softener)
    GREEK YOGURT WITH PROBIOTICS (probiotics is what we need to help our stomachs heal)
    KEFIR YOGURT (probiotics)
    GNU FIBER BARS ( Fiber is crucial for relieving constipation)
    ALIGN (probiotic pill found in grocery stores, gnc etc)

  3. Okay, so every morning MIX THIS:
    2 oz apple cider vinegar, 2 oz of aloe vera juice, maybe half a cup of prune juice, and I personally like to add a lot of diet 7up because the vinegar is quite strong to drink alone. Then drink up! You'll notice you will feel full after you drink it, you will pee a lot and your stomach will make funny noises, but that only means its working! Don't skip a day! I ran out of supplies and again I was constipated!

  4. ALSO, I purchased ALIGN a probiotic, I take it regularly and it took about 3 weeks before I saw results.

  5. Take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil, it's a stool softener.

  6. Incorporated the greek yogurt into your daily diet. I eat about 1/3 to 1/2 of the container a day, a small 290 calorie container.

  7. Kefir, Also when I feel like a snack each day I drink a few ounces of Kefir.

  8. GNU BARS ARE THE BEST OUT THERE!!! THEY ARE ONLY 140 CALORIES and 12 GRAMS OF FIBER!!! THEY ARE SO DELICIOUS AND YOU WONT FEEL GUILTY EATING THEM. YOU CAN PURCHASE THEM ONLINE OR GNC, BRISTOL FARMS, BJ'S HEALTH FOOD STORES.

One last thing, I found these tortillas at the grocery store, they're 12 grams of fiber, 80 calories per tortilla, 5g carbs, I snack on one every day. I'll eat one with my greek yogurt.

This daily routine has helped my bulimic bloat so much! Please try it for a few weeks and let me know if it has helped!

Hi Karla! Thank you so much for sharing those helpful tips with our recovering community! I know they will go a long way to help people :)

I definitely think the healthy bacteria food is essential in recovery... The tummy has a lot of work to do to get back to it's pre-bulimia days! Kefir is a great probiotic - and tasty too! Some of the girls my private online Bulimia Recovery Program and Community have commented that taking probiotics and digestive enzymes helped them a lot in their recovery.

Bulimia bloating is definitely one of the toughest challenges for most people in recovery! But just as you are doing... It is possible to push through it!
