Really I am fat, 17 st at 5'4". I can't even do this right. I have been bulimic since I was 13 years old and am now 36.

Shaye Says

Hi there!

You are definitely not the only bulimic who is overweight... It's very, very common. Bulimia flicks a switch in the brain that says E-A-T and so it's very likely that it can actually make you put on weight over time.

My sister suffered from bulimia for many years too... And her she was overweight for most of that time...

Now that she is recovered she has a beautiful, healthy, slim body.

This proves - bulimia isn't a good long term weight management plan! Many people actually say that they lose weight when they recover from bulimia as they're not having the massive binges any more.

Never feel as though you are suffering alone... There are thousands of people out there just like you.

In my last newsletter I wrote about structured eating... I think this is so helpful for both overweight bulimics, average weight bulimics and underweight bulimics... Really, because there is no difference between all of us - besides that some are more capable of purging calories. We all need help and guidance - and structured eating can be an excellent starting point...

You can read my article on reducing binge urges using structured eating here.

I hope it helps...

Remember to be kind to yourself and to treat yourself with the loving kindness you would treat anyone else suffering as you are right now.
